Kadir Has University organised a Jean Monnet summer school on the “EU and Security in the Wider Neighbourhood” which was held between 20 June-1 July 2016 in Istanbul-Turkey. The Module was delivered with the support of the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union.
93 Students of International Relations, Political Science, Law, Economics, Business Administration and European Studies from 12 different countries representing 23 different Universities have attended the two-weeks module.
The module focused on the European Union as an international security actor in its Southern and Eastern neighbourhoods which also surrounds Turkey and which share unstable settings challenged by various political, societal and economic issues.
The courses were delivered by the academic staff of the International Relations Department as well as by Dr. Julian Vassallo, the Political Councellor at the EU Delegation in Ankara; Ambassador Ünal Çeviköz, the Director of the Ankara Policy Center; Associate Professor Senem Aydın Düzgit from İstanbul Bilgi University; Associate Professor Dimitris Tsarouhas from Bilkent University and Associate Professor Başak Kale from Middle East Technical University.
Students fulfilling the module requirements were awarded with 5 ECTS credits. The second cycle of the program will be running in the summer of 2017.
